Miriam Romeril Leonard, Wells College Class of 1974, has been named as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Consortium Health Plans, Inc, an organization formed in 1994 to give effective communication and coordination for the Blue Cross Blue Shield System. The unanimous decision by Consortium’s Board of Directors was based on Leonard’s many years spent in leadership positions in the health and benefits industry. She previously served as an administrator for Mercer Health & Benefits in Ohio and Connecticut and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in the Midwest.
“Mimi’s career-long experience in benefit consulting to national accounts, her knowledge of the Blue System and proven track record as a strategic leader, made her the ideal candidate for this role,” said chairman of the Consortium Board of Directors Dan Holtz. Leonard will be located at the corporate headquarters in Columbia, Md. The retiring CEO, Anthony Masso, will continue to support the company as an advisor through the end of the year.
